School Overview

COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Community Development for Missions School is designed to equip students with the mind set and skills to bring deep and lasting transformation to hurting communities. The foundation of the school is a biblical understanding of the root causes of poverty and our response as followers of Christ.

During the school experienced practitioners will teach key concepts in community development and common pitfalls to avoid. Students will be introduced to the challenges of people who are living in the river communities of the Amazon region through hands-on experiences, and to the challenges faced by people in developing countries, while learning how we can best help. A graduate of the school will be equipped with practical tools, resources and contacts to pursue their specifics area of interest.

It is an University of The Nations course from the Faculty of Humanities and International Studies. CDFM gives 12 credits for the student that sucesfully to complete the lecture phase and between 8 to 12 for the internship phase.

PREREQUISITE
Successful completion of the Discipleship Training School (DSP 211 & 212)

INTERNSHIP (FIELD ASSIGNMENT)
Students are highly encouraged to complete 8 to 12 weeks overseas field assignment and will receive additional credit with University of The Nations for doing so. We will partner with an established organization that is already working in the field of community development. Internship location and price will vary and be presented during your school.
